Experiencing Harmony and Inventive Cuisine at Emerson Resort & Spa
A visit to the Emerson Resort & Spa is truly a unique, relaxing and satisfying experience. We recently went this fall, and wish we could return every weekend. Nestled in the beautiful mystifying grandeur of the Catskill Mountains, this luxurious facility exudes peace and tranquility. The setting is exceptionally beautiful with the meandering Esopus River running alongside.
The general theme of "there's a silk road running through the Hudson Valley" truly transports one into an exclusive and rare time and place. The décor is matchless in the juxtaposition of the old and new. Every space infused with Asian sculptures, paintings and artifacts evocative of third century Buddhist monasteries, compels the eye to behold and revel in the beauty of the artwork. For the city dweller, in a quest of a peaceful self-indulging retreat, the Emerson is the place to be.
The facility offers a wide array of amenities from conference rooms to enchanting outdoor spaces for weddings and parties in ultra charming settings.
Accommodations: You can choose between the lavish sophistication of The Inn or the rustic elegance of The Lodge. The Inn consists of twenty-five suites, each thoughtfully designed with sweeping mountain and stream views. Fireplaces create a warm and cozy ambience, the perfect complement to the cooler Hudson Valley fall and winters.
The Spa: The exquisite 18th century doorway to The Spa transports you to a lost era. It was imported piece by precious piece and assembled here by master artisans. A wide array of treatments are available for nurturing the mind, body and soul. Some of the treatments are custom designed drawing from ancient Indian healing wisdom. The massages are the perfect antidote for modern day stress. Additionally you'll find a fully-equipped Fitness Center, Spa Café and Lounge.
Dining: Dining is one of the greater pleasures at the Emerson. For the visitor with a sophisticated palate, The Phoenix stands apart. This restaurant highlights locally inspired cuisine infused with Asian and Indian influences. The experienced chefs create healthy menus using local and seasonal produce with results that are flavorful, well-plated and always scrumptious.
Other must-see attractions at this weekend escape include the world's largest Kaleidoscope (housed in one of the large rooms of the Emerson); the skyride to Bellabyre Mountain; exploring nearby Woodstock, the renowned eclectic town still buzzing with art and culture; and a visit to the The Tibetan Monastery—it houses one of the largest statues of the Buddha in all of North America.
Visiting the Emerson, even for a couple of days, is a wonderfully relaxing, healing and rejuvenating experience. The pristine natural settings, the hospitality, the food make for a nourishing, enriching and nurturing experience for inside and out. Whether it is the ambience created by the Buddhist artwork or the natural settings, the place exudes tranquility and harmony. Prepare to check your stress at the door when you arrive and keep the peace for a while after leaving.
